Whoops a month went by without a Music Monday and I apologize very sincerely for that. Well, really the apology goes out to the two friends of mine who actually asked me when MM was coming back. Disclaimer: this playlist is somewhat lazy, I pulled some of my classics, but don’t worry! I feature some new/er/ish songs too.

  1. Gooey – Glass Animals
    • I had to sit through all those ridiculous explosions of Taken 3 but I think it was all worth it to be introduced to Glass Animals. Gooey feels exactly like you’d think, 10/10 would listen to while driving on quiet summer nights.
  2. Renegades – X Ambassadors
    • I’m 99% sure I heard this song during a car commercial, and I say car because they’re all car commercials these days. I wasn’t tempted to buy the product because ha, that requires money, but I’m definitely here for this song. Was this on a Hunger Games soundtrack at any point? I wouldn’t be surprised.
  3. Glory and Gore – Lorde
    • Speaking of the Hunger Games, this song is bomb and also an example of my laziness. I listened to it so much last summer, just ask Alex – he had to put up with me repeating it in the car (sorry).
  4. Thinkin Bout You – Frank Ocean
    • Frank Ocean makes me feel the feels, ya feel? And I’m always thinkin bout you, Frankie baby.
  5. Californication – Red Hot Chili Peppers
    • Okay more laziness, but it’s the Chili Peppers, I don’t think anyone can fault me. Except you can probably fault me for not understanding the name of the song for much longer than I’d like to admit to.
  6. Bloodlines – Gentlemen Husbands
    • Ready for some new blood? These guys played at my company’s party last week and they were pretty bomb. Could not do the concert thing where you hold beer in one hand and kinda jump up and down while holding up your other hand because that’s too awkward to do in front of people who need to take me seriously for the next 8 months.
  7. Summer Skin – Death Cab For Cutie
    • Everyone has that one band that they really love because it’s the first band that they’ve really loved, right? Death Cab is mine and I think I overlooked this song when I listened to Plans because Soul Meets Body will always be my all-time favourite. I have this convoluted fan theory that it’s about Doctor Who, but maybe another time.
  8. Eat That Up, It’s Good For You – Two Door Cinema Club
    • There’s a pretty phenomenal music video that goes with this, and I hold that TDCC is one of my favourite bands. Also great for night drives. For a girl who likes going for drives as much as I do, I should really get on my license game.
  9. Shut Up and Dance – Walk the Moon
    • Casual plug for Arts Orientation, where this song is going to play a prominent role as well as my attempts at whipping. I already know I don’t have enough cool points to say that sentence, much less do the action, but if you don’t like that I also need to practise my nae nae. Oh god, that felt super uncomfortable to type. There are children on Silento’s video with way more street cred than me.
